Help Does such a Podcast app exist?

I am looking for a Podcast app which :

- Allows me to download podcasts onto storage so I can listen to them offline (so that's Stitcher out)
- Allows me to dig back to previous episodes of any given podcast
- Automatically detects when new episodes of favourited podcasts are available, ideally downloading them only when wifi connected

Am I asking too much here, or does an app actually exist? I have tried Doggcatcher, Stitcher, BeyondPod, and Google Listen, and none of them appear to fit my purpose.

Any suggestions?
 
Doggcatcher does all of the above. You should have another look at it. Which of those three couldn't you get it to do?
 
It does 1 and 3.

Digging old episodes is also possible as long as it's still in the publishers feed. You'll just need to increase the max items for the feed to be large enough to catch the old episode.
 
The problem I had with Doggcatcher is that I could not find a specific PS3 gaming podcast - PSNation.org (via www.psnation.org). I have searched it, found it, it lists available podcasts, but I cannot get any of them to play. Maybe I am missing something... I will take another look.
 
I'd like to highly recommend Pocket Casts. I follow a fairly large ammount of weekly podcasts (>15), including PS Nation ;)
I tried Doggcatcher, but the interface didn't do it for me tbh, even if it had all the features.

Pocket Casts does everything I want while not looking cluttered.. I've set it up to check and download new episodes overnight while I'm on wifi, directly to the phone.

The only thing i miss are some more rules for autodeleting of episodes, but according to their twitter, it's coming soon.

Hi, thanks for the recommendation. Pocket Casts is an excellent app from having bought and played with it for half an hour or so. I cannot seem to find the psnation podcast though. Could you tell me how you go about finding this podcast? Thanks!

Try searching for "playstation nation". Looks like they changed name of feed.. When I added show couple of days ago, it was under "ps nation"
 
Acast is the app you're looking for, man. It does everything you want and more. You have settings to.automatically download episodes, wifi only or mobile network. You can look through all episodes of any feed and you can choose where you wish to.store your downloaded episodes.

Not the best interface to be honest. You'll have to get used to navigating through it. Give it a go, i believe.it has a free trial.

*actually, its free supported by ads which you can pay to get rid of*
 
@daemolition Thanks for the further recommendation, but I've already purchased Pocket Casts, and so far, so good. Set up some podcasts, set my options so that new episodes for all of my podcasts download automatically (over wifi only). Next morning, lo and behold, four new podcasts ready for me. Excellent stuff.

I'm sure Acast is just as good ;)
