Does Verizon have a 4g android phone with a qwerty keyboard in the works?

Sprint user here, but Slide Out keyboards for heavy email/text/keyboard inputters like myself is invaluable. I had the evo for quite some time but I switched back to the evo shift because of the keyboard. I can hit 60wpm+ on my evo shift, which saves time. Lets see you do that on a touch screen.

Swype! ;)

(ok, I don't use swype lol)

I just bought a touch/stylus pen for use on the phone lol. The tip/cover is for the phones/tablets and it's a real pen too that takes the Parker refills; it's a Targus thing from Office Max). I also bought a Griffin stylus when i bought the phone but my kid hijacked it a second after he saw it. I actually wanted the Stratosphere with plenty of buttons but the store swayed me away from it. I used to have a PDA smartphone with lots of buttons :)

Well this is an old thread and some old news but there is an upcoming Motorola phone in the works codenamed the Jet that will have a keyboard, 4G, plus a quad core processor. Here is the news article about it. Supposedly they will unveil it at CES 2012, which is in January so it should be here pretty soon. I'll be waiting and hoping it comes to Verizon early next year and finally upgrade from my original Droid which is still running strong.

Interesting! With AT&T launching their LTE network recently they could still go to AT&T.

My guess if they come to VZW then they would be the RAZR 2 and Droid 4.

That article is from April, I haven't seen anything new on it. I would guess it will be the Droid 5 lol. If it comes to be I may have to figure an upgrade...I'm sure I will have a line to play with!

I think the D4 will be LTE, I doubt VZW will release any more top of the line android phones without LTE. I didn't realize the date was so long ago, so the keyboardless phone was likely the RAZR, IIRC there were some seen in China with 12MP cameras.

My story on my quest for a 4g slider and issues I ran into with the stratisphere since the droid 4 is not out yet and it the only one available probably until feb 2 droid 4 comes true
Got the samsung stratisphere which is quite good except for the following issue and the story I wrote about it behind the expierience and what VZW offered me a deal on the razr as compensation because samsung doesn't seem to have a fix yet.
It seems there are 2 known bugs . The one smydsmith describes in droidforums.net and I recap here.
Issue : The ringer volume going from high to low and another Withe the reverse after previously setting. The ring tone and it starts hapening after you hang up until you set the ringer volume again.

Imagine lowering your volume for a meeting and the next call volume is through the roof
I didn't have that issue but the reverse of the ring tone always going to one above silent.
They are sending me a razr but not the razr max as its was not in the stores yet eveb though they have the display at the stores. The verizon rep said it is reported issue to verizon and they reported it to samsung. I said I was frustrated with the issue and wanted a fix eta or a swap for a new stratisphere. They offered me a refurbished one since it was past ten days but I reminded them I had reported it to them a month ago and after troubleshooting and looking up my past calls over the last month as follow ups they offered me an un happy customer type of deal. With a steep discount off the old razr since the new one was about out.
It seems to be a known issue that has been reported to VZW
but not by many people. I imagine it was a bad batch or a glich or something that is doing it

It just took me about 2 hours to register for these forum and post a reply from my strat since the razr
It seems the the lg aly slides the easiest and the Droid 3 has the best keyboard with the stratisphere as a close second noting as the as the phones get taller and the keyboard gets wider that the keyboards somewhat harder to use and it still the only 4g slider from vzw until feb 2 if the droid 4 is out then which I plan to checkout.

Sent from my SCH-I405 which btw is the stratisphere.

Would vzw make an official anouncement on the droid four please. And make aknown bug list available to the public or lists of possible issues etc.

On the note of vzw service they always end up helping me resolve things but it takes a very long time to troubleshoot over the phone. I miss the days of going into the vzw store having them see the issue and making an expedient fix on the spot.

Thanks vzw from a longtime customer just agravated with cell phone bugs and wish there was an occupy "fix cell phone glitches site" not directed to vzw but a general place to centralize known and reported bug fixes accross manufactures for cell phones to keep the public more informed and to be aware of the options to them.

I happly await the droid razr that was the compromize and will post an update when I get it probably Monday.

Ok, just a few comments,

Would vzw make an official anouncement on the droid four please.
They probably will about 1 week before its release.

And make aknown bug list available to the public or lists of possible issues etc.
Never gonna happen. Has any carrier, to the best of your knowledge, ever done this?

This type of expediant service went away with the advent of smartphones. The problems they have are just much more complicated than with the old dumbphones, which were, "I can't send or receive text messages" or something similar.

There sort of is one.... you're on it now. :)

Best of luck to all of us, ;)

I have the droid razr maxx and still have my droid2 i use on wifi if i ever need to type allot. The vzw wifi is 30 bucks when added to plan. Id rather have the extended battery in the maxx. The droid four seems good but i like the maxx battery and form factor

Back in the pre-smartphone days, I had a V and and an EnV. I loved those keyboards. On screen keyboards seem to get better and better, but I still can't type anywhere near as fast as I could on those old dumb phones. I would have considered the D4 if it was basically the Razr Maxx with a keyboard.

Problem is the maxx is too big if it had the droid 4 keyboard your thumbs would have to stretch i think. Im thinking about a blutooth keyboard when i need to type allot. It's a trade off

So I guess it's true.....

You can satisfy some of the people all the time, and all the people some of the time, but you can't please all the people all the time.
