Help Does your phone creak when squeezed in various locations?

Android Question

My Droid Turbo (32gb, kevlar back, no external casing) creaks when the edges are squeezed (fingers on the left and right of the screen, most notably about 1/4 of the way up the phone), as well as when the front and back are squeezed (also about 1/4 of the way up the phone).

The amount of pressure that I am applying is enough to firmly grip the phone. The sound is quiet, but it is a noticeable creak. It somewhat dissipates in the very short term after several back-and-forth squeezes. It is definitely annoying. I actually replaced my very first Turbo device for this same issue, although it was much more pronounced (the gaps within the phone were much larger and noisier).

I have looked this up and have heard that this may not be uncommon for Motorola phones / plastic casing / something to do with heat expansion. I would really love any and all opinions or known facts about this element of all phones / my phone.

Thank you very much for your response!

Other Motorolla folks will be best able to help you out, so I moved your question to the Turbo forum. FWIW, my Moto X doesn't squeak, or at least I never noticed it.:)

I am located in North Eastern US. It is winter ... cold and try. I have never encountered this issue with my previous Droid Maxx or current Droid Turbo.

Since you said it has happened to you on multiple Droid Turbos ... where are you located and what is the heat/humitity like>

Thanks for the thread move and support, Unforgiven. And Thom, thanks for your support. I am located in Southern California, where the climate is very temperate. I have noticed this issue in temperatures ranging from 40 degrees Fahrenheit to 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

I very much appreciate your continued support!

There was an odd situation 2-3 years ago on another device where a person had a problem with screen operation. If she handed the phone to another person and they did exactly the same thing they did not have the problem.

Have you tried letting someone else do what you have been doing? Did they get the same result?

Yes, indeed another holder can make the same creaking noise come from the phone. Occasionally it takes minimal squeezing, and occasionally one would need to try to make the squeak noise occur by utilizing motions that are as if the holder is trying to bend the phone using minimal force.
