Theres a couple more apps that can be installed, try beats effect.

Yes. The stock music app has a button to enable the Dolby mode on the bottom right.

Google Play Music has a similar effect when you open up the equalizer; there's a slider for "3D Effect".

These options are only available with a headset/headphones inserted.

The reason the stock software doesn't work without headphones is because our phone is mono; that is, with only one on-board speaker, the phone is not capable of producing any stereoscopic audio. The most it'll do through the phone's speaker is sound funny.
