Don't install the Aldiko update!

For those of us with limited space for apps, any benefits that may be gained from Aldiko v2.0 are far outweighed by the fact that it has been eating far too many pies over Christmas.

I've now got to download the old version and probably re-import my library. Joy.

You have been warned!

The old version is available on SlideMe - back to being 628KB (Application -> SD) rather than 8+Mb :)

Installing the old version over the new one didn't reduce the space used, but all is not lost. If you uninstall & then re-install, your bookshelf will be detected & re-imported in rather less time than it probably took the first time around!

I originally posted this in the Desire forum as it is applicable to those phones but not a lot of others - apologies for wasting your time if you're reading this and you have plenty of free space! Hope the update was actually a good thing for some people...

This actually happened some time ago with the paid version (prompting me and quite a few others who paid to go back to the free version). And now the free version has been "updated" (quotes intentional). It's starting to feel like there's no escape except to switch to Moon+...at least that way I won't be constantly worrying about hitting an update link by accident and having to restore from backup...

Hey just a question about Aldiko and Moon reader and others... I imported a lot of books by sticking them in the /ebooks/import folder and let them do their thing. Afterwards there are books in other folders too, can I now safely remove the books in the /ebook/import folder? Did they make copies for their own directories or what?

With Aldiko it's fine to clean the "import" folder out after importing.

Thanks for the heads up. That bloat would have pushed my Slide over the edge to that annoying "low disk space" warning.
