Don't understand Icon

Hey guys,

I tried to send a photo text message the other day, but it didn't send (a grey coloured message icon with a clock on it popped up in the upper right corner of the specific message I had just sent, not the entire stream of texts i had with that person). After a half an hour it switched from the previous icon to an icon with a mail envelope with an exclamation point on that particular photo text msg.

I know the first icon means that it didn't send and the phone was automatically and continually retrying to send, but what does the mail envelope with the exclamation mark mean?

Does it mean that it sent, or I have to try again, or...?

Generally, when an email message is sent with a "high priority" there is an exclamation badge associated with the icon for the message. That makes this particular icon a bit baffling...
It's meant to indicate that sending the message has permanently failed. Not the most intuitive icon, huh?

^ Are you sure? So that means the other person never received the message? I wish there was a chart of icons and there meanings out there for androids, some of them are not so obvious.
