Dopped my EVO - TEP replacement?

Let me just say...frig.

Dropped my 3 week old Evo on the asphalt yesterday just before a hike. It slid off a bag while I was getting stuff out of the trunk of my SUV and proceeded to go face first right to the ground. Only two corners were damaged but on the lower left hand corner, the screen did actually crack.

Anyone have any experience with getting the ENTIRE phone replaced for something as small as this? I do have TEP so I'm hoping this goes smoothly. Also, I assume I should probably unroot prior to bringing it in.

If you take it in to the store they will replace it for free.

My wife cracked hers two weeks after she got it and we payed the hundred deductible to get a new one then found out they'll replace it at store for free.....

Great to know! Did they replace the screen or the entire phone?

yeah ill clarify: if its a screen issue the reps can now replace that in house. if its more software or circuit damage, it will be deemed for scrap and a refurb issued. that way there is a deductible..

I presume they'd also fix a cracked camera lens cover on TEP too? Mine cracked within the first week of owning the phone, but I haven't gotten around to dealing with it yet. Just want to make sure it's covered by TEP and they can make the repair.

it depends on how bad the damage is. Sprint changed what they will do about cracked screens. Basically, if its only 1 crack less than an inch they will take care of it. Anymore than that and they are not supposed to. (at least at my store, I'm a tech too and before they changed this policy, we were replacing an outrageous amount of shattered screens)

If its minimal damage, we generally pull a screen off of another EVO that has a bad board, or we have screens for one version of the Evo... if we don't have either, we order an entire replacement. In this case, with minimal damage, there should be no fees at all, you'd be covered under the ESRP part of your TEP.

We replace cracked camera lenses no problem, its just switching the back housing which is a super easy fix.
