double sms notification

Hello, i just bought a galaxy s2 and i didint like the default sms app, i installed another one but now i get 2 sms notifications on status bar, i`ve seen other threads and they all say to go messages>settings>untick notifications, but i dont even have the "notification" word in messages settings.How could i disable the default sms notifications?thanks
 
Yes, and well, thats the only way to do so AFAIK. there arent supposed to be other settings in there. Unless you install GO SMS and select in its settings disable all notifications of other SMS apps.
 
Why not just disable Notifications in your new SMS app?

That way you would only get the stock notifications.

Does seem very odd that you do not appear to have Notifications in your stock SMS Messaging app. Very odd indeed!
 
I have the same problem but with my emails, 1 with the gmail app and the other with the email app. Can anyone help with that ?
 
going to Settings > Sound > Notification ringtone > Silentdidint fix
i installed sms go also, but i see no option on notification settings saying to disable notification from other sms apps, can you be more specific, what version do you use and exactly where to enter?thanks
 
On Go SMS Pro, go to help>setup wizard>just follow it through. Set it to pro mode, then it will give you an option to disable notifications of other sms apps.
