just got my LG G2 and am really loving it.
the double tap thing worked great to open or close the screen, but then i installed nova launcher and the double function to close the screen stopped.

so i re-loaded the original home screen settings of the G2 but no luck, the double tap to close the screen is still not working :(

is there a setting i am missing?
please help me get back this cool feature...

thanks in advance!

Yep, same here. Albeit, I have Nova to launch the camera with a double tap but before I programmed that, it still wouldn't turn off the screen. Double tap to turn on works fine.
Hoping I can find a solution.

Another option, is to load up an app like Screen Off (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock) from the Play store. Then just set up the double-tap action in Nova or whatever, to launch that app, and it'll off your screen. I used it for when I was testing new launchers. But I ended up going back to the LG instead, just for the sake of having a) the stock widgets working, and b) my transparent soft keys. I'll be going back to it though if I can ever find a working version.

But yes, there are apps that you can launch with the double-tap in the launcher to lock the screen again as a work around. Used it with both Nova and Apex when I tried, worked fine.

thanks everyone for the tips.

i already had the 'screen on / off' box check marked.
but even after a restart i cannot tap on the phone screen to turn it off.

however, tapping on the notification bar works.

this is kinda weird cause when i got the phone, the tapping anywhere on the empty screen worked.
a little dissapointing.

any more tips or idea are most welcome :)

Try changing the screen on/off animation to "Simple" (from TV or whatnot) and see if that helps.

I know that you (the OP) said that you'd already gone back to the stock launcher but for those tuning in, the reason knock off doesn't work with a 3rd party launcher even in a blank spot on the desktop, is that the G2 does not consider it to be a blank spot because the launcher skin is covering the entire desktop, so what looks to be blank on the skin, really isn't (as far as the phone is concerned). So that explains the why, and as others have posted above, there are a few workarounds; ranging from tapping the status bar to installing an app and having the launcher launch the screen off app via two taps.

Does knock off work fine from the lock screen, as opposed to the main home screen (desktop)?

in the end i uninstalled nova launcher.
it was weird cause i had gone over to the 'home screen' from inside nova launcher but there were still a few things remaining from nova.

but now that i uninstalled it, everything is back to normal on the G2.

am gonna leave like this for a few weeks and then maybe go back to nova.

thanks everyone!
