Double Text Messages Received

This has been a problem ever since I tried third party apps, I installed cm6, and kept the stock app as default. I still receive double messages, but my phone doesn't send them anymore( boy was my girlfriend annoyed!) . I can still get mms in all it's glory, but wish I could delete the stock app, but it's part of android. The other apps work off of the stock app, and that's part of the reason I don't use them, it makes the situation worse.

You CAN delete stock apps.. but it requires rooting. :p

Im sorry EXTREMELY STUPID with the talk (language) on how to do things with this phone (ascend). What does FLASH mean? I feel so stupid when it comes to my phone n doing things with it. Please educate me lol

"Flashing" is kind of a hacker term for Android users that refers to installing things on the phone that you aren't technically supposed to have. If you aren't wanting to hack your phone, don't worry about flashing. You'll never encounter it running stock stuff.

No ,you should not delete stock apps, bloatware, yes, stock apps, no. Anything google, or with the extension .com, plus some others, are android system files. If you do that, you will screw your system. Most apps that you download, work off of those files, messaging is one of them, tried to see for myself, by freezing it, then used a diffrent messaging app, that app didn't work until I unfroze messaging again. I've been rooted, and have been using cm6, for over 3 months, look at forums, there are many examples of people deleting stock apps, then running into trouble when they do.

The developers of these messaging apps, use the stock app to work, without it, they can't. A lot of problems arise from both apps, working at same time. I also hear about problems with cricket, they don't have their act together either, didn't do enough homework on smartphone operations

i was having double text messages and noticed i had 2 GO SMS apps running same time ...
i went into running apps ,saw 2 ,shut down 1 and now only 1 message

Here's how I solved it. It'll still happen occasionally but you need to download go SMS, go to ur old messaging app n go to settings n turn off notifications an turn on notifications in go SMS. Problem solved
