Double Twist

I personally use PowerAmp player, but I don't use iTunes which seems to be a strong point with double twist and the air sync add on
 
I have a pretty good itunes library, with some some movies on it. Since I am still very green behinde the ears as far as this Android stuff is i was just wondering which way to go.
 
double twist would probably work well for you. I think the air sync add on is a paid app though.
 
I like it. I came to android from an iPhone and I wanted to be able to sync my iTunes music. I don't think that android or any other operating system is going to match iPod/iPhones music management anytime soon, but doubletwist is helping to get it closer. The program on your computer will probably seem a bit laggy, but the app works well. I wish it could be used with the headphone control button. I also wish there was a better option for accessing controls with the screen lock. The current controls make it to easy to skip the song.
 
I like Doubletwist. I tried a couple of other apps, but couldn't figure out how to create and manage my playlists in them.

Doubletwist has a nice little PC companion app that import well from iTunes. So I just manage my music in iTunes, then Doubletwist imports it from itunes and syncs it into my phone.
 
Are you able to import your songs to Doube Twist on your PC and use that as your media player on your computer as well, so you can get rid of iTunes? Or is it strictly for the syncing to your phone? I'm not a fan of iTunes and want to be able to move my songs to another program once I get my new phone.

Yes you are. Try it, everything but Airsync is completely free. The Android market is integrated into it as well as Amazon's music store (for media purchasing). Added music folders are automatically scanned and video is automatically transcoded during the sync procedure.

My only gripe is that it can be a little sluggish starting up on the Mac/PC end. It takes about 12 seconds for it to start on my desktop (Athlon X2 5400 with 4GB DDR2). Airsync starts to sync in under 10 seconds now. Sync speed depends on wifi signal. That's about it.
 
My biggest gripe about DoubleTwist is that its "podcast" management isn't very good.

There is no OTA downloading of podcasts (you have to sync with the PC), there is no observable way to tell if a podcast has been listened to, or is in progress, or is new...

The app on the PC isn't very good, either. It's super slow considering how little data it has to move, the sync occasionally fails for no good reason, or you'll get odd behaviors like the sync will only need to copy over a few songs but will take 20 minutes, while another sync might need to copy over a hundred songs but will take the same amount of time.

Unfortunately, I'm stuck with it because there isn't another app that I know of that works as both a music player and still treats podcasts like podcasts.
