Just bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 and have no idea how to download from my PC as yet and stumbled onto this site and thought that I would find people with more experience and could assist a novice work his way through his issues.

Try Samsung Galaxy Tab - Android Forums for some good discussion about the Galaxy tabs. My guess would be to plug it into your PC with the usb cable and put it in mass storage mode. Then you just copy files as if it were a flash drive.
 
Thanks for your responses but I have worked out how to connect my Tab to my PC while in the Kies mode.
All is good and I am able to transfer, download all of my contacts, pictures and music from my PC to my Tab, which is great.
I have posted my solution on the Forum for anyone to read.
