Help Downgrading OS?

Hi, first of all I am brand new here so apologies if I make any mistakes.

I was just wondering if there is any way to downgrade from ics?

Like Mike said above me we would need to know your device then we could possibly move this thread or direct you to the specific forum you need.

Otherwise like the member above me asked, why do you want to downgrade?

Hi again, I have a Sony xperia u, and im just not happy with ics. It does not seem to perform as well as gingerbread, which is the version of android that the phone came with. Also, my battery life has decreased since the upgrade, though whether thats due to ics im not sure.

I have the phone on contract from my service provider, would it still be possible to root the phone?

What carrier do you have? Some carriers frown upon rooting the phone and some manufactures warranty will be void if rooted.

Can't say I know how to root your device, but I will say to read, read, read and understand the process of rooting.. Also read on how to recover from problems that may arise when rooting.
I did find these guides for it though:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Sony_Xperia_U

Main: [Guide]Unlocking bootloader and rooting Xperia U wilth custom rom and Kernal

I am planning on rooting mine soon and like I said, just read and get familiar with the terms of rooting. :)

I would also read if there is a way to bring the phone back to stock in case of a warranty claim if you need to send it in:)

Thanks guys, I guess I'll be doing some research.

I'm with Virgin Mobile, not sure if they allow rooting on their phones but I'll look into it!

Thanks again!
