download apk's directly

Hey folk...
got a question for ya, I got one ofthose nice android tablets for Christmas but can not access the market. Is there a place to download apks besides the market? I can install apk's (some) but I can't get them directly from the market.

Well not an unoffical store so to speak (i guess). i want the app market but cant get onto it.. so looking for the apk's. Not looking for illegal stuff.. just want the app market but cant get onto it because device doesnt allow it..

No Problem and unofficial doesn't mean illegal. It is not illegal to download apks and install them on your phone.

I got one of those fun tablets for my daughter as well.



Found some on get jar:
GetJar - Appsolutely Everything for Nokia, BlackBerry, Android, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, LG, Palm.

Also had some luck just searching via google - but of course, dl at your own risk. "kindle apk" etc.

Which tablet did you get? I got my daughter an Archos 70 Internet tablet. I found an xda hack that allows you to install the official google market. Perhaps you can look around and find something similar for yours.

...and don't overlook getting the app directly from the developer. Some offer this, some don't.

AppBrain has many apps, and you install them with their App so you don't have to side load.

That is not how it works on my phone. It opens the market to do the download. It might do something different if the market is not present.

If you have a phone, or another device that runs Android which has access to the market then you can place the apps on that device, then back up the apk's with Astro file manager. Once the apk's are backed up, just transfer them over.
