Help Download path in Android 4.2.1

Lurker
Hello all

I am very new to Android so please excuse my ignorance.
I have purchased three Google Nexus 7 tablets
Currently the Android version is 4.2.1 ,Kernel version 3.1.10 -g22b4fcd

I wish to run kiosk lite software to lock the units down. I have installed the demo version and after having a chat to their tech support, quikly managed to customize the toolbar links... no problem there

I want to run a few pictures as a screen saver too.
The native screen saver works fine (Settings - Daydream - Photo Frame)
..so far so good.
NOTE : The images are in the download folder and are in jpg format

However kiosk tech software support guy told me I need to use the custom features of Kiosk to manually browse to the path where images may be stored for their screen saver to run
The Kiosk screen saver does run but the screen says that the path to the pictures is wrong.
I installed ES file explorer to see if that could give me a clue
This is what I have tried (examples as seen below)
/sdcard/Download/name_of_file.jpg
/storage/sdcard0/Download/name_of_file.jpg

Is there obvious that I am doing wrong?
Does the path look correct?
ES Explorer says the path is /sdcard/Download
As this KIOSK software is asking for a URL for the path do I need to convert the pictures to html format?

Anyway if anybody can point me in the right direction , that would be very much appreciated

Thanks in advance

Ingo

Everything in Android seems to refer to URL paths

welcome to our subforum :) can you see the jpeg images when u navigate to downloads? if so and the app dosn't want to access the images i would place those images in some other folder perhaps sdcard/pictures just move them around till you can find a spot where the app can access them. also are these images in a zip folder? if so you must extract them before being able to access them with the app. keep me posted and ill see what can find out for ya.

Hi there n4zty!!

Thanks for the quick response. Good thinking about moving the pics around.
I did that but in the end the problem was my path..

What fixed the problem was adding the " file:/// " before the "sdcard/download " bit

Once android was happy with the syntax, then the path was correct
The pics are in file:///sdcard/download/..

Like I said I

good troubleshooting and i dont consider you a noob if you managed to figure that out on your own lol i would of never guessed that.
