I've tried everything but still unable to download or update anything in play store now. Anyone had this problem?

The various options clear the cache etc, bizzare something is blocking the ability to download

Well, without knowing what you've tried, my suggestions may be redundant, but here goes:
1) in System Settings, delete Play's cache and data, then force stop; if that solves it, you're done!
2) if it doesn't, go to the Play Store with a browser, not the app, and try installing something from there; does that work?
3) last but not least, try reinstalling the app--but do the steps in #1 before uninstalling it; you don't want any remnants of its prior existence left behind when you install it again.
Post your results.
also check and see how much space you have on your phone.

All ok now, think my vpn was causing problems, thanks for replies. It's a tv box btw not a phone
