Downloaded app, now ad widgets?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

I downloaded some apps. Well a lot actually from Google play. Yesterday I noticed a widget on my home screen. It said something about free games or apps. I deleted it off my home screen and removed all but 2 of the apps. I kept coin dozer which I've had before and a live wallpaper. Today I noticed a different widget, free android games.

I really don't want to delete the other two apps or factory reset my phone because I just did that a week ago. I do it like every 6 months just to start fresh. Is there a way to delete this stuff off the memory card? I have downloaded a lot of apps before, even questionable apps and I have never had any put ad widgets on my phone. Any ideas?

pS-the phone is a EVO 3D

It could be aggressive advertising, known as AirPush and similar.

The app which had created that mess might be still on your phone ... recently installed or updated.
To find that culprit app install an AirPush detector like

... Since last year, we've seen mobile ad networks adopt increasingly aggressive methods of ad delivery. At Lookout, we've been particularly watchful of ad networks that are capable of pushing out-of-app ads to the default Android notification bar, placing generically designed icons on the mobile desktop, and changing browser settings, like bookmarks or homepage ...

Thank you :)
I just did a scan and it found nothing. I suppose I got rid of it when I deleted the apps but missed the widget on my homescreen. Those ad widgets are so annoying! It didnr hijacked my browser so that's a good thing! One of the live wallpapers was horrible so it probably came from that. Haha.

Thanks for your help, I didn't know where to begin.

I think, these aren't widgets on your home screen, they are just short cuts for internet sites.
Just shove them in the wasket bin.

Well yes they are short cuts. I'm just used to.calling them widgets. There are too many terms to remember.
Also I don't want them to show up at all. I hate that they are added without my direct permission. Hopefully I got rid of the bad app.
