Downloaded file disappearing

Hi,
I am using a Nexus 4. When I download (Save as...) an MP3 file it sais "Download started" but there is no indication for it in the uppest row as it used to be a few months back. During the download I can find the file (special extension) in the downloads folder but after it finishes, it just disappears. Neither my Google play music app nor a search function cant trace it. What is happening? What changed in the last 2 months or so?

Are you using an mp3 downloading app or just the browser downloader?
If the former, the app might have been updated and could cause this error. Have you been able to open the app and find them?
