Downloaded movies from Google Play only when connected to network?

Downloaded a couple of movies via Play Store last week for the kids could watch in a car journey at the weekend.

When we were on the journey, i attempted to play the first movie only to get a message that movie couldn't be played as i wasn't connected to the internet.

I'm assuming this is because i didn't do something correct? Hope so as the idea of having to be connected to a network to play a downloaded movie seems stupid, as if i was connected to a network, the chances are i'd be at home and i'd watch the film on the TV rather than a 7inch screen!

Any help?

You need to click on the "push pin" icon to actually download a local copy to view offline, otherwise it just streams from the internet rather than downloading the whole movie.
