Help downloaded new system update now a problem

Hi i downloaded new system update today and now when I get a text message it doesn't show on the top same place as where the time is battery life when screen is locked and only when I unlock the screen does the notifications show up is it just me but I hate it if I didn't hear my phone going off and there could be notification waiting for me and I wouldn't see them till I unlocked the phone hope you can help

Have you looked for a new setting in settings, security, lockscreen?
What phone is it and android version?
