Why does my phone automatically download pics from the internet or in game adds and save them to my phone. It's really annoying and they show up in my gallery. Anyway to stop this ?

The pictures might be from emails (spam), from their embedded pics (html email). All these pics are stored in Download folder.

No most if them are picture adds when free games are loading. I guess it's spam but how do I stop it.

I don't know how you prevent them from appearing or downloading (though I would like to know that as well) but you can hide them from view in your Gallery.
Go into Gallery and go to the menu and and choose Show/Hide Albums and then uncheck the ones you don't want to appear. I brought my list down from 9 to 2 options. I just left Camera Shots and All Videos and hid the rest.

Thanks, this isnt the perfect solution but defintaly helps.

I might have the same issue too...Every single time I go to try to 'view full size' on a picture on facebook for example, it automatically downloads the picture, (when my internet is working that is.) That never used to be the case up until my network problems.

Same issue, OP? Subscribing.
