Help downloading and using new icons?

i looked around but i didn't really see an explanation i fully understood.

i want to download new icons to use. something off of here, specifically;
Royalty Free Icons & Clipart Stock Images ~ Icons Etc.

how do i download them on my phone so i can use them as icons? (i would most probably be downloading single icons).
- also, if i just download them on my computer and put them in my dropbox, how do i save them once i'm on my dropbox on my phone so i can use them?

this is confusing to me :/

Firstly you need to have an application like folder organizser or Desktop visualizer. These allow you to use images on your sd card as shortcuts to applications. There is a guide here for folder organizer:

Dropbox application just downloads teh files to your sd card. Download the files using the android dropbox application and use a file manager (Estrongs, Astro) to put them in a more obvious folder.

This sub forum is for tips and tricks (for people to alert people of new tricks etc) so you wont get teh attention here that you would possibly like. Posts like this get much more targeted responses in the support and troubleshooting sub forum:

I'll press report and get it moved for you as essentially you are asking for support :)

thanks, haha. i have folder organizer, and astro. i honestly just don't know what to actually do with them for the most part. (although! i have sort of figured out making new icons in folder organizer, but can i change widget icons? that's what i can't figure out (plus getting the actual icons on here) because it only shows shortcut options to things like settings, email, etc.)

Widgets and icons are different. A widget is an app on your homescreen rather than just an icon. Its an interactive thing which uses and requires specific images to function.

Some widgets can be decompiled on a pc and have the images edited for other ones then recompiled but its not an easy solution to be honest.

ha, yeah. i mostly figured that. i'm still wanting icons though, to replace messages, contacts, facebook, email, etc. :)

say i directly download the icons from that site on my phone, or download them on my computer and put them in my dropbox on my phone - where do i move them/save them to so i can access them as an icon option?

As SUroot has already said, use a file manager (I prefer ES File Manager nyself) to copy the files out of your dropbox folder and to an obvious folder somewhere on your SD card. You might need to go into your dropbox app first and download them. I don't think that the Android dropbox app actually downloads content unless it's needed, just the filenames are synced initially.

Then you can use folder organiser or your launcher of choice to change the icons.
