Help Downloading custom OS takes forever? (+Boot Loop)

Niera

Lurker
My problem started with a swollen battery. After buying a new one it worked like a charm for a couple of days and then my phone started switching off randomly. Next step was boot looping. Usually I worked something out to keep the phone "alive" but today it wouldn't show no more than the Galaxy S4 logo and then go again and again. I have my data backed up so I tried holding down the volume and power button and did a factory reset - nothing changed. So I was getting real desperate and possibly did something very stupid. I selected the "download custom OS" as a last resort and as I have no idea how that works my phone has been downloading it for a good 7 hours now. Is there actually anything left I can do by myself to fix the problem?

Hello and welcome to Android Forums Niera :)

Your only option is to download and flash the stock Samsung firmware for your model of phone, CSC and Product code, and flash it via Odin by carefully following the instructions and video contained in the links of #1.5 of 29 Galaxy S4 models - know yours?

After which, you will need to re-root your phone and install a custom recovery and flash your custom ROM again unless you have a nandroid backup you can use.
