Help Drive issue

Weird, yesterday I got a message that my Google Drive storage is full, this is the first I have ever received, and that I am using 42GB of my allowed 15GB!

It highlighted usage as follows:

9GB photos

3GB gmail

30GB Drive

This morning I deleted two large videos (2x~1GB), and cleaned my email (~2GB), and it didn’t change much.

Then I exited my Gmail & drive, and accessed later to be told I am using 14 of my 15GB.

9GB photos

0.8GB Gmail

3.37GB Drive

So what happened to the other ~27GB it thought I had???

Any ideas what is going on, was there an error because I was minimally over, or was there just a great drive data error??? Why have I not had other messages when I went over the limit, and no warnings when approaching it?

I wonder if they were miscalculating your photos. If you let them reduce the size you get free unlimited storage and it doesn't count against your total. If you store full size images it counts. That's the only thing I can think of.
