Driving Mode: Should Keep Screen Alive?

PeteCress

When I'm driving and listening, say, to podcasts I want my N7000's screen to always stay alive.

A nice-to-have would be that it exits that mode once the charging power is removed... but that's just a nice-to-have, and not the core requirement.

"Driving Mode" sounds like it might be what I am looking for, but it doesn't seem tb doing what I want.

Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Assuming your droid is charging in the car, do Settings > Applications > Development > Stay Awake.
That did exactly what I was looking for: stays awake as long as power is connected, goes back to time-out sleep mode when power is disconnected. And no intervening attention required. i.e. when I attach power it goes into the desired mode, when I remove power it flips back...

Thanks!

Get Llama or Tasker to do that.
I've got Tasker - although currently not using it. Maybe this is my big chance to actually use it. What would Tasker add to the mix?

I don't use Tasker, I use Llama, but I do know that Tasker can do everything Llama can and more. You can set Tasker to have a screen timeout of never whenever you are charging, or when you have specific apps on the foreground. My setup for example is that if one of my music apps is in the foreground, the screen dims but does not turn off. Screen timeout returns to 30secs once I exit the app or put it in background.

Bingo!... I've got my reason... Listening to podcasts even when not charging, it's a minor nuisance to have the screen going to sleep every so often.

Thanks.
