droid 2.1 + yahoo mail + repeatedly sending multiple copies of emails

I know the update hasn't offically been rolled out but does anybody have any early knowledge of whether or not this update will correct the issue of emails sent from the droid from yahoo sending multiple copies and copying them into your sent folder? I know there's a setting to disable this feature under normal circumstances but i like having my sent copies saved and was hoping that this update will correct this issue.

Maybe someone knows or if some gets their update tomorrow, please post for all to know. Thanks.

people still use Yahoo mail :)

The Best in Email 2010 - The Reader's Choice Awards About.com

I only ever ever use it to test HTML emails before giving to my clients

I have the same problem. I had to delete over 2000 email copies in my sent folder since Christmas when I got the Droid. Just got the 2.1 update, so hopefully it will stop.

Please keep us up to date with this problem now that you have the update. Fingers are crossed that this is fixed.

So far so good. Haven't had the mass repeat emails in my sent box since the update.

I just got the update on Easter morning and I re-setup my email acct and sent a test email. So far, I haven't seen any copies of the sent message but I'll give it a day or so and then report back. Fingers crossed.

I had this issue before 2.1 and still have it after 2.1. I even re-added my yahoo account to accommodate for the new server addresses. The only way I've found to solve it is to uncheck "save sent mail" or something like that in mail options.

If yours continue to function properly, could you update with your configuration settings?

Thanks

It is now Tuesday morning and I don't have the multiple copies of email sent from the droid in my outbox so it appears that this issue has been fixed.

As far as my setting, I actually didn't change anything. I simply erased the email acct I had previously set up and then re-entered it and it seems to be working fine.

I wouldn't go as far as that...

I got my OTA update this morning. I deleted my yahoo account from my droid then set it up again using just my email address and password. Then I sent an email just to test it. An hour later, I checked my sent items on my computer and there were 7 copies of that email in the sent items.

At least for me, the issue has not been fixed.

I now have 2.1. I removed and readded my Yahoo Premium account. (It is a much simpler process on 2.1) I STILL suffer from duplicates when using IMAP.

I hope someone has a fix for this.

You don't need to use IMAP anymore. (Unless you do for some other reason.) You can set up your yahoo account just using your email address and password now.

Do you have the save sent mail option unchecked in your yahoo mail options settings?

I received the update on Easter as well. Deleted my old account and set up again. Still getting mulitple copies in my sent folder. Not as many (now can be less than 150 unlike before) but still happening. UGH!!! Have been using m.yahoo.com through the browser and may have to go back to that.

Hi, All,
First post here. Week old Droid. I'm just learning, but progressing nicely. I'm trying to not ask a lot of 'stupid' questions. I do have this problem. I do have 2.1. And, despite this, I do love the Droid. I think hubby is getting jealous.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for a resolution.

I got my update OTA on 4/5 and tried setting up Yahoo on 4/6 but it was not reliably connecting. Deleted the account and waited until yesterday evening to try again. This time the setup was totally transparent after I entered my email address and password. Noticed that the IMAP server is android.imap.mail.yahoo.com and outbound is android.smtp.mail.yahoo.com, which it was not the day before.

So far, I have sent over a half dozen emails from the Droid over Yahoo today and have seen no multiplied copies in sent folder. Indeed, it seems to be really speedy, faster than Gmail in getting the message sent.

Don't know if this helps anyone, but perhaps you need to blow away your existing Yahoo email and reinstall it.

It seems to take a day or so for the duplicate sent emails to start populating the folder. Report back tomorrow evening and let us know what is happening (look on your computer to see what is in the folder on the yahoo server).

Mine shows that too. I guess that's the "better Yahoo email support" they were talking about. Too bad it didn't do what it's supposed to do

I actually noticed the same thing if this helps anybody. BTW, I have the Yahoo free acct (not premium) and I set up my email acct with the Droid by simply adding the email acct and inputting the password. I didn't use the "cheat" method as I previously had to do because it wasn't "supporting" the free yahoo acct.

You're lucky. I had about 100 copies of each of two test replies I sent a couple days after they were sent. I deleted all but one copy of each and guess what? They're back today (the excess copies)! I'm curious if your tests were with original sent emails and not replies - maybe the bug is selective. I'll try a couple original emails and see what happens. Anyway, I'll probably disable Yahoo mail on the Droid again and use the Yahoo mobile website to access my Yahoo account - it actually works quite well, except you don't get any notifications of course.

EDIT: That was quick - I already have 3 copies of each of 2 original emails sent a minute or 2 ago in the sent folder.

Right after I got the update, I sent a new email and it seemed to work fine. I also just sent another new email to a totally different email address so I'm crossing my fingers that this works as well without all of the dup sent emails. Again, I let everybody know if I'm in the clear.
