Droid 2 a bomb?

I've been trying to find some kind of sales numbers for the D2 and it isn't easy to find. I found one article saying it sold about 11,000 in the 1st week which would be terrible. This has me thinking that if this is the case than support won't last long for this phone since it would be considered a waste of time and money. If anyone knows different I would be very interested to hear.

Lots of people have no problems typing on the virtual keyboard, including myself.

I prefer the physical keyboard only because I edit lots of word & excel docs, and I use the terminal emulator a lot.
The virtual keyboard takes up too much of the screen doing those things.

Clearly, considering the number that have been sold.

Rereading my post I see that I don't agree with myself there. What I meant was that the virtual keyboard on something the size of a smartphone didn't work for me. I know a lot of people that love it and are very skilled with it. I'm hoping I'll have better luck with the virtual keyboard on a tablet sized device since I plan on getting a Moto Xoom.

Its a decent phone. Not great. I have both a D2 and an Incredible. My wife is using the Incredible right now but if I had the choice, Id take the Incredible anyday.
Keyboard or not I notice little difference. If anything, I think its more a hassle sliding the keyboard in and out..

My gf has the incredible. There are some things I like about it that the D2 doesn't have. Things like the ability to save to the phone storage or sd card.
Also the HTC sync with Outlook.

What I don't like about it is the home screen can't turn to landscape and using a 3rd party launcher means you can't use the sense widgets.

I think one issue is the D2 and D2G get counted separately. I saw one list where one was maybe #8 and the other #13.

I have a D2 and love it. It is completely personal preference. i have had phones with, and without physical keyboards. I cant live without one now. If all you do is text, then you could probaby live without it, but when I am surfing the web, it is awesome to use the whole screen all the time.

That's part of it, but it was also generally viewed as a warmed-over D1. Maybe it is, but I love my D2G. It is fast, has few bugs, and the keyboard is excellent. My only gripe is battery life, but I've adapted. I'm still considering buying the extended battery, though.
