Help Droid 2 Battery Life Issues

Try making it so all of your Motorola widgets only sync over wifi. The com.motorola.providers.contacts. is just your contacts, I believe. Possibly ones that Motoblur draws from facebook. You could just uninstall/disable your antivirus for that one.

There are a couple rules for good battery life with lithium-ion batteries... for 2 weeks run your battery completely dead then charge it completely to full without any little maintenance or half way charges... then after 2 weeks continue to do that at least twice a week... that will insure you battery stays in optimal condition.

As far as the phone goes... the power control widget is gold... add that to your home screen or close and keep active only what you need... If you have a task killer avoid killing everything... (Not to start that horrible debate) but if you are planning on using a task killer I have found that simply blocking apps that you don't use that run in the background can save about an hour or so of battery (That was however a test I ran on the Droid 1... I have not needed a task killer on the Droid 2) And last but not least if you have apps or widgets that update try to have them do it only as much as you need... (I find that my news widget getting updates every 10 mins might be a little excessive if I check the news every couple hours...

Using these guidelines for myself I am able to get about a 29-31 hour charge out of my Droid 2 with my usage being approx: 3 x 5-10 min voice calls, 5 texts per hour, 30-45 min of web browsing and gaming maybe twice, and the occasional time check... mileage may vary but this is pretty accurate for my day... most the time around that 30 hour mark my phone shuts itself off.

Hope this helps

I've been using JuiceDefender when at work. Only used for a few days so hard to say its helped alot but seems like it a decent battery saving app.

Do you keep it in your pocket? I do and mine slides open a little bit, D1 did too. It will open just enough to turn on the screen. Set your timeout to something like 15 secs so that the screen isn't on for a minute (i think that's default) when you phone slides open in your pocket.

Go to settings>battery manager>battery mode switch it to custom battery saver and change both off-peak and peak to turn data off after 15mins. (I have peak at 30min) It won't interfere with anything but it should stop your phone from syncing so often.

How to prolong lithium-based batteries

Useful info.

Based on what I've been told by "battery guys" at my work, and what I've read, regularly running your lithium ion battery down to zero is not a good idea.

Yes, "training" and all that stuff is for NiCad and NiMH batteries.
Lithium ion batteries don't have a memory. They just lose capacity over time. The more you charge it the less capacity you have. Keeping Lithium ion batteries at 100% and letting them go to 0% speed up the process. They should be kept charged but not fully charged nor fully discharged.

Same as everyone else, I'm having serious battery life issues. I'm thinking that I may actually need to get a new battery because my problems are getting worse. I've got all the settings at the recommended 'saver' levels. Last night, I charged it before bed, and it was completely dead this morning... I mean COMPLETELY!!

Guess I'm going to do a little pricing, and go from there!
