Help Droid 2 Battery???...seriously???

Ok...I had the HTC Incredible and traded it with my brother for the Droid 2 because using an onboard keyboard is easier for NESOID, GENSOID, SNESOID and PSX4DROID. I always use Advanced Task Killer, my battery profile is set for Nighttime mode, and I woke up at 6am this morning. WITHOUT using my phone for 2 seconds, when I got to work I looked at my phone at 8am and the battery was at 30%!!!!! Are you kidding me? Here is the rundown of crap on my battery list:

I don't have wifi on, sync is on for my email, and here are the programs that keep popping right back up on my Advanced Task Killer (still running in the background)

Music (haven't even used this yet)
**Skype Mobile (don't use this)
**Social Networking
**Blockbuster (opened once and can't get rid of it)
Contacts


**can I delete these all together and get rid of them?

Normally I don't have issues with phone batteries, however the battery is the bain of Android's existence and is royally pissing me off. I have chargers with me at all times and am constantly charging the phones.

Does anyone have any help options for this?

Searching for signal 14% of the time is a huge battery drain on a CDMA phone where it is constantly trying to stay connected to 4 towers at once for better call quality.

Try the following:
- Battery set to "Maximum battery saver."
- Screen set to "25% indoors/Auto for outdoors" (there's a handy widget preinstalled)
- Disable Background Data, it'll turn back on if you use the App Market.

Also, the battery and overall OS apparently needs trained. So drain it completely until it doesn't turn on again, then charge back to 100% without turning on the phone. I know it's an inconvenience, but it's certainly helped my phone.

As for the pre-installed apps, we're all stuck with them until some awesome developer is able to root the D2. Word goes the Boot Loader is encrypted, so no custom ROMs but at the very least we'll be able to clean up all the bloatware.

This seems like the first phone I've had to break my battery in for. When the phone first came out I was getting horrible life, but now the battery lasts just as long as my old Voyager's does, even with games/web surfing/etc.
 
dunno what i'm doing right but i use the crap out of my phone all day long, screen on auto, timeout on 30sec, all syncs on(3 email accts), wifi always on, 2nd day of use and was at 60% when i got home....
 
I just charge it frequently. I charge it overnight, in the car, and in the office. I did the same thing with my 2 previous smartphones.
 
I would get rid of Advanced Task Killer -- or at least only use it manually, and rarely. Each time you kill certain apps, they will just restart themselves, using your battery to do so. I have System Panel and I've also tried Advanced Task Manager, and I only use this sort of app if I really get the feeling an app is running out of control.

But doesn't "Disable Background Data" eliminate emails coming in? I had an issue a few days ago where the D2 just all of a sudden STOPPED syncing. I don't find myself to be a noob and I KNOW I didn't switch anything or turn something off but I went 2 days saying to myself "I know I should be getting emails"...sure enough, the sync was totally off.

You can manually pull emails from your inbox screen. Some people find it an unacceptable inconvenience, I personally don't, it's my first smartphone in 4 years so the concept of "push e-mail" is something I don't need.

You can control all these settings using the "Power Control" widget from Android that comes preinstalled, that way you can change settings at will. :cool:
 
I had my phone off the charger for 20 hours and it was still at 50%. I used it for at least a 30 minute BT phone call, twitter, and email.
