Help Droid 2 dead screen (touch still functional)

teigen

Lurker
I've seen other people with the same problem; touch screen/buttons are still responsive, screen black and dimly lit. It happened when I went to go respond to a text, not after a drop or anything drastic. I thought it might be my charger (because I just started using a new one last night) but when I took the battery out and just ran off of A/C power the phone's screen just remained black and lit. I also have done many restarts and leaving the battery out for awhile to no avail.

I tried to at least use Droid@Screen on my computer, but I'm not sure if USB debugging is active on my phone or not and I can't seem to get it to work. My phone is rooted, so I have the feeling that I may have voided the warranty (and even if I haven't, I'd like to delete some personal stuff off of my phone before I bring it in to the people at Verizon, there are things on there they definitely do not need to see).

Advice, anyone?

You might want to just replaced the LCD module. I just did the touch screen glass, and it wasn't too bad. Used instructions from ifixit.com and a YouTube video. Just make sure you have T3 and T5 torx screwdrivers. My glass came from eBay seller hi-etech and arrived in a day with tools. They have an LCD module for less than $25.
