Help Droid 2 effed rom install need help

Testa86

Lurker
I had a rooted droid 2 and i was running fission mod on it. I saw that CM7 was out for the droid 2 so i downloaded it from the rom manager. One i installed i got stuck at the M screen. I then tried to boot in to the clockwork recovery but i couldnt (holding down the x on power up) all i got was the android guy with a !. so if i hit the search button i could get to the android recovery menu which gave me these options.

reboot phone now

sd:install update.zip

wipe data/factory reset

wipe cache partition

ive also made a back up before i tried to install cm7

at this point i have no idea what to do. ive tried downloading roms and renaming then to the update.zip but keep getting signature failure. and i cant connect it to the computer because device manager isnt seeing the phone. i was wondering if you can help me figure this out or if im SOL. also i was wondering if i try to install a stock update.zip if it will work. ive been trying to find out but havnt yet.

thanks for any info/help

You should wipe cache partition and wipe data/factory reset and when your phone reboots you should be in CM7.

Then something must have went wrong when installing. Looks like you need to SBF.

I believe the CM instructions clearly state you need to first SBF before you even get to Wiping Cache/Data for the install. You should:

1 SBF
2 Root + bootstrap (z4root and droid2bootstrap)
3 reboot into recovery
4 format system (wipe data and cache)
5 flash rom

I followed these instructions when I did mine and it worked great. CM is worth having. I would also go to Settings>Privacy>Factory data reset when you first get CM up. It may not be necessary but I have always done this step after installing a new ROM.
