Droid 2 / google calendar bug?

I think I found a bug in the google calendar sync, and I'm curious if anyone else can replicate the same issue (or if it's a problem isolated to my phone):

I have a Droid 2 global on verizon. What I'm doing is creating events in google calendar that repeat. For example, create an event on monday from 9-10am, then edit the details. Check the box to "repeat" the event then edit the repeat.

here's the important part: create a repeating event that repeats weekly on two or more custom days that don't appear in the drop down box (eg, by selecting "weekly" in the drop down and checking the "monday" and "tuesday" checkboxes....NOT by selecting "Every tuesday and thursday" from the dropdown box). and then save the event.

The event will create just fine in the google calender web interface, and it will sync all instances to the calendar app on my droid. Now, if I go into the calendar app on the droid and try to edit the repeating event (And select "all instances"), I will get an error: "the duration of the event is longer than the time between two occurrences. please review the start and end times".

after i close that error, If I try to edit or save the event (still from the calendar app in my droid), it will delete all the repeating instances (or sometimes all instances).

I verify that the event only runs for an hour on one day when I set it up. (I understand what this error normally means - I have received it before when i've accidentally created an event spanning two days and tried to repeat it every day).

I think there's some incompatibility in the fields available for repeating events between the web interface and the droid app.

when creating a new event on the web, if you want to set the repetition option to "weekly" for an event, it gives you a list of checkboxes where you can select which days of the week to repeat on. When creating a new event from the droid calendar app, the weekly repetition option is fixed to one day (whatever day you start creating the event on). At least, that's how it appears on my droid.

If I create a weekly repeating event from the web interface and make it repeat just one day a week, I can open it on the droid and edit it without getting that error.

Is this a known issue? Does anyone else even experience this same issue or is something broken/corrupt with my specific droid 2 / calendar application?

ok.. i found a friend w/ a droid X to try it - he doesn't get the error, and there is a " custom (not editable)" option in the repetition field on the droid app when editing an existing event. I see now that when I edit a repeating event in the app on my phone, once I choose to "edit all" and get past the error, the option selected in the repetition dropdown is always "does not repeat". which would make sense why all other instances are disappearing when I edit from the phone. However, even when I scroll down in that box and select the "custom" option, all other instances still disappear.

I can't edit a weekly recurring event with multiple repeats per week from my phone calendar app w/o removing all the other instances of that event.

does this happen to anyone else with a droid 2 global?

THANK YOU for posting this, and sorry it took me so long to find you and let you know you're not the only one. :) I wonder if this only happens on the Droid2's? That's what I have, and I have the same exact problem. I actually have been going nuts trying to figure out what was causing my recurring calendar items to disappear, and I think you just solved it for me! I had this one recurring event twice a week, and it kept disappearing for a reason I couldn't figure out. I'd have to keep going into accounts and removing/re-adding the "Calendar" for that account to get it to come back, but then it'd disappear again in a few days. I'm not sure if it happens from me editing a single instance in Outlook too? But I just did the remove/re-add thing, and noticed that error again when I went in to "edit" the event. Did a search and found your post! Do you have this issue posted anywhere else where you may have gotten a reply?

BTW, I used a hosted Exchange service (Exchange 2010) and Outlook. The recurring event is weekly, at the same time every Mon and Thurs. The events don't seem to disappear immediately after making any change, so I think that's what's been throwing me off... but I suspect that, maybe, after editing a single occurrence, once that event passes, then the whole recurring event disappears. I'm going to test that out and w/b with results.
