Droid 2 predictive text dumber than Droid?

I changed from Droid to Droid 2 Global recently. I have noticed that the predictive text on the Droid 2 is less effective than the original Droid. I have to type more characters before I see the word that I want. Also, apostrophes are proposed less frequently than they used to be. Does the predictive text need to go through a learning process? Am I the only one that has noticed this?

I just wish it would UNLEARN some things--like bumping starting quotes backward to the end of the preceding word. ARGH!
