I stumbled upon this a few minutes ago, but have yet to find people commenting on its efficacy.

See below for links, since my first post on this forum can't contain any...

Has anyone tried this yet? Does it work? I'm itching, but not buying till I can root and remove all that bloat and get rid of motoblah.

Yeah, it works fine. It is a 30 second process just like most other root batch files. Seemingly has 100% success rate by what I've heard so far. TiB works fine with it.

What is TiB? A google search returned 1 thread and they never said what TiB stands for...what app is this that freezes other apps?

TiB is Titanium Backup... the free version will backup all your programs, data and settings for very simple restoration in the future and the Pro version (which is $6.58 us) will allow you to freeze and unfreeze apps.

I'm having trouble with the root. I have usb debugging enabled. but the root hangs at 'waiting for device'
What mode should it be when I plug it in, charging only, pc mode, windows media sync, or USB mass storage?
same problem on both a win xp and a win 7

EDIT: Nevermind I got it to work, charging only for some reason got it to work.

I just installed Wireless Tether for Root v 3.1 Beta 11 from here and tether works no problem...

I'm at this stage, just rooted my Droid 4, does Wireless Tether for Root v 3.1 Beta 11 show up as an app?

I can't find it anywhere??

Any help?

FOUND IT, WORKS GREAT!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone!

Is there any videos on how to root on linux? I downloaded motofail-linux but im not sure how to get it to work on linux mint 12.

Hey just got this phone, seems good..I was wondering how long the rooting process should take? I have the usb cable plugged in, USB debugging on and started the Run file. It says "daemon started successfully" and its been at that for 5 min now..Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

Figured it out, kindve what you could call an operator error as I failed to download ALL of the drivers required. Windows said it found all of them, but apparently that was not the case. Heres the official Motorola driver link: http://www.motorola.com/consumers/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=bda09ec8009a0210VgnVCM1000008806b00aRCRD
The rooting process on this phone was so incredibly FAST!!! Coming from an LG Ally that was like a 20 some step process to update to Froyo. Hope this will maybe help someone else in the future.

information located here.

here is a direct link to the download.

tested works great on droid 3 not droid 4 running 4.1.2 jb there is no root currently for 4.1.2 except razor_blade which ive done on the razor and they say it works on droid 4 !!! Nope tested it over 50 times on 4 seperate droid 4,s factory reset every time to do the smart action ,select battery ,save ,home hit enter ,and it does nothing or it will say no su /superuser and denied i love seeing that over and so please devlopers make us a 4.1 root for the droid 4 only and exclusivly
thanks i know the razor owner are soo happy rt now

Scanner detected a trojen in the zip file.

Might been put there by third party or been there all along.

Someone with a safe sandbox should clean it out and re-upload.

Agreed I get the same thing with Norton 360. Also when I do the steps im still not rooted :(
It's not unusual for virus scanners, to see rooting tools as viruses or trojans, because they often are.
If you want to root, turn off virus protection before downloading and during rooting.

What is Rooting? / Plagiarism in the Android Rooting Scene

other Rooting troubleshooting

1. make sure you are use correct root tool
for jellybean use Razr Blade Root

2. read post here failed on '/data/logger' - Permission denied
mkdir failed for /data/logger, File Exists
Unable to chmod /data/logger: Operation not permitted
link failed File exisits

3. try
OKay, for those having issues with razr_blade.zip
(I was having the same issues)

What happens is that it detects your phone before the phone is completely booted up. So what I did was every time it says "rebooting" as soon as the device goes off, I disconnected it, waited for it to fully boot before reconnecting and then it will continue the process.

Eventually it all worked well and I am rooted (took me all of last night, this morning and voila!)

Hope it helps those getting:
failed on '/data/logger - permission denied
mkdir failed for /data/logger, file exists
unable to chmod /data/logger: operation not permitted
link failed file exists
errors

great, although the forum works better if you post, that you found a solution, what it was and even where you found it, is helpful

have fun with your rooted phone that motorola/verizon worked so hard to keep you from rooting and consider donating to dan rosenburg the creator of many motorola root tools
