Droid Bionic Network Question

I have the new Motorola Droid Bionic. Works great except when I'm in the basement at work I do not get any signal. So I connect my Droid to the internet using the WiFi in the basement but when I try to use News apps like CNN, USA Today, BBC, etc. it tells me it cannot download news updates. Why don't the news apps use the WiFi connection?

Are you able to use the browser over WiFi?

WiFi can be slow to connect and/or unstable at times, but it's generally pretty fast and reliable. Basements may not get the best reception though. Are you getting full WiFi "bars"?
