Droid Eris : ICS

I knew the Eris was special when it made it all the way to Gingerbread, but now I love it even more. I don't expect it to work but someone is already trying to put ICS on it:

I don't use my Eris anymore so I'll definitely try it out as soon as the buttons are properly mapped.

I'm guessing that somebody will find a hack to get it running, but I'm not sure how worthwhile it will be - much like the GB Sense builds for the Eris that run, but never all that well.

I hope that I'm proved wrong, but many of the things that make ICS so great - particularly hardware acceleration - will just not be an option for the Eris anyway.

GB seems to run well enough, and there are plenty of great apps that still run under GB that will continue to allow the Eris to squeak along.

I haven't reflashed for a long time (was on GSB 3.5). I just found out the GSB rom (4.2) comes with some APKs that pretty much make eris look like ICS. It is of course android 2.3.7 but this is probably as good as it gets.

Personally I'm just happy there is still dev work on it.

Yeah.. the "...make Eris look like ICS.." would be the way to go, if I still had mine.

ROM devs have fun with that stuff, and have since the beginning. Heck, I was having a great time toggling around everything from a Froyo look to an iPhone look, back in the day.
