Help Droid Incredible backup asst question - want to remove off phone

Hi,

I just switched from Verizon to Page Plus and I'm loving the savings and great service. Only wished I had done it years ago.

Anyway, my sister and I both have the Incredibles and both have switched to PagePlus. Now both of our phones are sending us notifications that we have errors with our passwords to backup asst.

We can't get these notifications to stop. PagePlus doesn't use backup asst. Is there a way we can remove the program from our phones to get these notifications to stop.

We don't want to do a factory restore/reset or root as we don't know what rooting is.

So far we have gone into settings/applications/manage apps/show all/backup asst and clear data and force stop.....everything greyed out. That stops it for a few days but it pops back up.

Help. Thanks.

You need to have s-off, and then use a root file explorer to go to /system/app and delete the vzwbackup apk. Then reboot, it will be gone.

Thanks, but not sure what that means. Is this something I could do myself easily. I have no clue what rooting is. Wish I were more technical. :-)

S-off means security off. It enables you to make changes in system folders, which are normally not writable. In order to get s-off you have to root first. It is a little complicated and time consuming, but well worth it in my opinion. You can follow this guide http://androidforums.com/showthread.php?t=531353 or this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1506258, they both do the same thing, there just written up a little differently. Root is a great thing and comes with many advantages over a stock phone.

Thanks for the info but I guess I'll just need to live with it since I'm not a tech geek. I thought for sure there would have been an easier way to just disable it.
