Morning all!

yes ;-( lol

night- did you ever get the multiboot to work on your phone or was that someone else who was working it?

That was skorp I believe

Yeah it was me, but I found something on XDA that basically did what I was working on but packaged much nicer so I stopped working on my own.

The dev has gone on and developed it even more and made it available on the Market - Init 2 Win It Applications. It doesn't require emmc, it can work from the sdcard. He doesn't mention the Incredible 2 as being supported yet, but does say that it should work on other devices:
Other Devices This app should work on other devices. If you device is not supported then the app will give you the option to put in the variables needed or you can email the init2winitapps team to get your device added. Currently this system will not work on the Samsung devices that use the bml and Moto devices that have a locked bootloader. We are working on getting support for those devices in the future. We also have a form on our website to submit your device to be added to this app.

Morning all
that app looks cool
yeah i am looking into this i am hoping it works
If it is anything like the version I am using, it is way cool. Conap did a great job on the one I am using, though there is some manual work to do to get it set up. Looks like he has pretty much automated the whole thing in the Market version.

Yojoe - I know you are a fan of SkyRainder and I want you to know, I am running 4.3 from emmc as my daily and not seeing any performance hits (even underclocked to 768MHz).

thats awesome to hear... i wonder if SD card speed rating could make a difference with the app from the market?

Afternoon all!! I did it - I took that leap and rooted. With my heart in my throat the entire time but it worked! Yay. (Yes, I know it may seem silly that I'm so excited but it's the first time I've ever done something like this)

I would imagine the speed rating of the SD card would come into play when running from the SD card. In your case, you would still have the option to install to the emmc, which in my testing has a slight edge over my SD card. Besides, I never really used the emmc for much before anyway.

I've not played with the Market version, I don't want to go through resetting up my ROMs again since the two are different enough that I can't just install the Market version and have it recognize my current set-up. There is a work-aound for that and I may switch since there are some features that I like in the Market version that are not easy in it's predecessor.

Congrats, and welcome to the dark side. ;)

Thanks. Can I have my cookie now? :p

I am kinda sad - gotta wait till I get home to load a ROM - the phone and the work computer aren't playing nice. It let me run unrEVOked but other than that it tells me no go. :(

On the other hand - I won't have to run a back up later since i just did it. :D

Congrats BabyBlues! What ROM are you going to try? Personally, I'd reccommend SkyRaider as a first (and possibly last) custom ROM. The current version is 4.3 but that is just a patch upgrade from 4.2. You can't do too musch harm to your phone flashing ROMS, but be partilularly careful about flashing Radios.

I also reccommend you either get My Backup Root or Titanium Backup so you don't have to re-download all your apps. In most cases, you can restore your user apps and data, but restoring system data can cause problems between ROMS.

Again congrats and welcome (as Rawlings put it) to the Dark Side:D

Whenever I've looked at the root threads I seem to see a lot about CM7 and SkyRaider. So I'm thinking first up CM7 tonight. Play with that for a little while and see then try SkyRaider. This is all really really new so I have a learning curve too.

Already got Titanium Backup and ROM Manager. They were # 2 & 3 on root downloads. First was screen shot. Lol.

And thanks! I LOVE the dark side!! :D

Both are very good ROMs. CM7 is an ASOP and will not have the Sense User Interface therefore will have a different look and feel from what you are used to with the stock ROM. SkyRaider is a Sense ROM, kind of like the stock ROM on steroids. I prefer the Sense UI which is why SkyRaider is my ROM of choice.

Ooohhh, good to know. I do like the Sense UI a lot. (So much so that I am a complete brat and tell my friends all the time their phones all stink). So maybe I will be jumping right into SkyRaider. I feel a night of sitting in front of the computer coming on. My head is swirling with so many new things.

hummm what sence is skyrider running ??? i dont think it matters i dont think it is ported to the inc2 yet

All this root talk makes me want to look into rooting my dinc2...

do it man its really easy
run alpharevx get s-off and recovery
then flash super user and that is it that simple and it works i have rooted two inc2s already

I really like the phone as is, what are the benefits of rooting? Especially since I have GB. Does overclocking help with the overall performance of the phone?
