Droid is so new...

As a recent convert from all things BB...and I mean its been YEARS since I've looked at anything that wasn't BB, I glanced upon the display at the VZN store to see my new little love affair...the Droid X. (sigh) It does more than I can even begin to imagine, and is light years ahead of any OS BB could pitch...So I did it! I jumped in with two feet, bought myself the Droid X and my wife the Droid Pro as she is a keyboard slave...

Sadly, I miss two things from my BB days...

1. BBM - I loved the ability to IM the wife and know she received it and subsequently read it...(D's and R's)

2. Email push - the BB was seamless and held no animosity towards the other free email services (Yahoo in my case) and no restriction of a 15 minute push was placed on the device. Email is instant just as it should always be.

Those two items aside, I figured joining this forum would help me through my withdrawal period (I'm a Noob, with less than 20 days on this thing) and maybe teach me a thing or three about life after BB!

Cheers,

Ian

I converted from BB almost a year ago and haven't looked back. What made it easy for me, however, is that I was already using Gmail, so everything email-wise was seamless (i.e. no 15 min delay). My wife also had a curve, and she later jumped on board w/ a droid. Since we both use gmail addresses, we've used Google Talk as our pseudo-BBM service, and it works just as well!

You are correct, though. There is a learning curve, and Android is lightyears beyond Blackberry. So good luck with everything, these forums helped me tremendously (and still do).
