Help Droid Razor E-Mail

av8tor

Lurker
Just received the Razor yesterday and everything is running fine except my email accounts. When I access either my gmail or yahoo mail accounts through the messaging icon all my email folders are displayed on the screen. I've tried sorting by date and unread but it seems that both accounts have the same issue.
I never had this problem on the Droid X, so I was wondering if anyone was having the same issue.

Please explain what you mean a bit more as I do not seem to understand what your problem is.

Welcome to Android Forums, av8tor.

The "Messaging" icon is access to all "messaging" services/apps your device is loaded with, including those email accounts you mention. Most users click the individual icon for which email or messaging program they want to run from either the app drawer or their home screen.

I take that generic messaging icon off of my home screen and repopulate the home screen with the Gmail and SMS texting icons. You may want to just use the individual Yahoo and Gmail icons too.

Thanks Frisco

I set up the home screen as you mentioned with individual icons for both Yahoo and gmail.
I just found it interesting that when I tap the Messaging icon and then tap either Yahoo or gmail, the emails displayed are only from the In box and sent box Would you believe I also see emails that have been deleted.
Oh well, the phone is working fine so I'll just stick to the individual icons

Hello,

Forgive my forum ignorance but perhaps someone can help me. Have the Droid Razr on VZW running stock Ginger Bread. It seems that my gmail accounts (I have 4), when accessed through the universal inbox application are not properly syncing with the server. For example, the emails get "pushed" properly, but once I check/delete that email in another portal (i.e. gmail.com, or on my desktop client Apple Mail) the emails in the gmail accounts of my universal inbox do not delete/mark as read. I don't believe it's a problem with apple mail because apple mail's changes are updated to the server when i access the accounts on gmail.com. Also, all emails checked/deleted within the universal inbox application will update on the server and apple mail, just not the other way around...

I have to delete all of my emails twice, or do everything from my phone... it's very annoying any help would be appreciated

Did you set up your email as IMAP or POP3? I prefer IMAP since it synchronizes your email with the server. With POP3, it may need to have an option set to delete when you delete on the device.

I noticed if you use auto setup, for gmail (from the icons in setup email) it defaults to POP3. I had to manually setup my gmail in the regular email client to use IMAP.
