Droid Razr Maxx HD or Galaxy S3?

I'm looking to get a new phone and was wondering what your thoughts would be between waiting to get the upcoming Motorola Razr Maxx HD or getting the Galaxy S3 now? Anyone waiting for the release of the Razr Maxx HD that is thinking about swithing and why?

There is nothing that Motorola offered in the new line apart from better screens and CPUs. No gimmick features like SmartStay, SmartAlert etc. Unless you are really hard pressed for battery life I see no reason to choose Razr.

Well I already have the S3 but may switch to the Razr Maxx HD after it launches. I really don't like the build quality on the S3. I thought the more I used it, the more I'd get used to it and the less it would bother me. But it's been the opposite. I'm hoping the build on the Maxx HD (and LG Optimus G which I'm also considering) will be significantly better.

I also think the phone is just a tad to big for me. The Maxx HD is 5mm shorter and 3mm narrower. May not seem like much, but when you have smallish hands like me, every mm helps.

The reception and radios are definitely the weakest of any phone I've owned as well. I can live with it but if the Razr offers better, that's just another plus.

The only thing the S3 has over the Maxx HD, for me anyway, is an extra gig of ram. But as long as the phones runs smoothly for all the things I need it to do, I'd be okay with it.

My advice to you is that if you're not in a rush, wait for the Maxx HD to launch, compare the two phones in person, read a few reviews, then decide. That said, the S3 is still a very good phone for the price. But after having had it for several months now, I just think it's not the right phone for me.

Consider the Maxx. Nearly all the Samsung features are (IMOHO) range from cute gimmicks at best down to broken and completely worthless. There were very few Samsung features I missed when I flashed CM10 on my GSIII (not that CM10 was ready as a DD for me at least).

An on-screen button-ed, good radio-ed, large battery Android phone with a less intrusive skin sounds perfect to me. If only it came out when I was ready to upgrade...

I agree with waiting. My wife has the S3 and it is nice. Can't get use to using it outside, can't see the screen at all. Google this, S3 came in last. Problems with people hearing you on calls. We have had no problems with heating issue, some with wifi nut that is better. I am going to wait for maxx HD but only 1GB of ram and nonremovable battery.

Any other thoughts on this now that the phones will be available tomorrow? I'm planning on checking out the maxx hd when Verizon opens tomorrow and if it's what I hope it will be then I will exchange my s3 for it.

Agree with this 100%
