Droid razr maxx jelly bean screen auto dim issue.

Hello, i am new to this forum cite and i hope to get an answer to my question. I have recently upgraded to jelly bean on my Droid RAZR MAXX. I love it! Especially project butter, everything is sooooo smooth. Anyways when i go to unlock my phone, it goes from dim, to my current brightness setting. As its makes the transition from dim to my brightness setting, it does it very un smoothly. now, my mother and i both bought the same phones at the same time. She also has jelly bean but her brightness transition happens very smoothly. I am quite irritated that mine does not transist smoothly. any help is appreciated :)

Welcome to the forums!!! :D

Do you and your mother have your screens set at different brightness levels?

This may explain the difference in smoothness.

Also when you updated, did you happen to perform a factory data reset? Sometimes this can fix some of these little "glitches" from the update process. All it takes is a few 1's or 0's to be in the wrong place and things act weird.

She has her brightness all the way up. I tried putting mine all the way up and compared the two and the same outcome: her supper smooth transition and mine being choppy. I have not tried a factory reset. What would i loose if i performed a factory reset?

Hi ToastyStrudel. A backup prior to a factory reset is the ticket. You will want to move your pictures to your sd card or pc. Your texts will also be lost so if you have a desire to keep them.. you will want to dnld a text backup app from the play store. Your installed apps will also be removed but you can return to the play store to gather them again. Paid apps will not have to be repurchased.

After a factory reset, your phone will be factory fresh. It will require setting it up again. Your gmail account as well as any pop mail accounts will have to be reinstated. I know it's a hassle to do a factory reset and most everyone will avoid the procedure if possible.
It is a good thing to do after a major upgrade and will often eliminate little nagging problems that occur after such.

Before you decide what you want to do, you might check out the area we have for the Max owners. You can see if others are experiencing the same brightness transition problem as you and if there is another fix. Here is a link to that area:
