Help Droid Razr sync problem

On my past android phone when I entered a contact directly into the phone it would sync with my gmail account.

Motorola has this stupid "backup assist" program built in and now I can't figure out how to get contacts to properly sync with gmail.

Of course the one's that I enter directly into gmail sync. That is not the problem. It is when I enter one onto the phone, then not syncing into gmail.

Any ideas?

Does it prompt you when you enter a contact to only sync with your phone or your Google account?

No it does not. It seems to automatically store the new one's entered onto the verizon backup assistant +. I can't find a way to turn that off.

Hmm, my only guess is to go into your Backup Assistant on Verizon's website and export those contacts to Google then delete BUA. I'm not positive as it's been a while since I've used my Bionic (which software wise should be comparable to the Razr).
