Droid Volume Louder since 2.1?

Recently I've noticed that the volume on my Droid is super loud even when I have it at the lowest setting. I'm can hold the phone inches away from my ear and still hear what the other party is saying. This happens with my wired earpiece as well. Anyone else notice this?

Better than being a Nexus One/Desire/Incredible/(insert next N1 clone here) owner, where the volume is darn near inaudible. I would rather it be too loud than too soft.

As would I, but this is to the point where I can't have a private conversation because people around me can hear what the person I'm talking to is saying...

it's made my "droid" notification and movies sound super high-pitched like the chimpunks. i have to restart to get the normal sound back. absolutely bizarre...
