Droid X about to become Droid touch

I wasn't due for an upgrade until 8/20, but received an email yesterday that I was eligible for an early upgrade. I don't have $300 to get one of the brand new phone, but verizon had a promotion for the pre-owned Bionics for $80 so I ordered one. I know it has had 2 major bug fixes come out in the past couple weeks so I am excited. Spec wise the Bionic can hold it's own with anything out today except for the display. I was also grandfathered in to unlimited data so I am psyched about that.

My Droid X will still be used plenty for music and games. Just won't have cell access. My X has been a great phone. I still have my original. The thing even got submerged in paint at one point and is still 100% functional, but now I move onto the world of dual core and 4G.

When you got the email is it only for the used bionic or other options?

And how come I didn't get the email :(

No it was for anything. I use the HDMI out quite a bit and would like a RAZR but don't have $300 to spend so that is why I went with the Bionic. I also have the extended warranty on my account so the pre-owned Bionic was too good a deal to pass up. I also figure most of the pre-owned Bionics were returned within days because of the bugs, but from what I understand most of those have been patched now.

I went from Droid X to Bionic. I personally like the Bionic more than the Razr. I think there is room for both of them. If the Razr is really what you are attracted to, perhaps you should wait for the Razr to start showing up.

I think the number of returned Bionics was not due to bugs but rather due to the Rqazr coming out and many people wanting to go with it.

There are a LOT of problems with Verizon 4G and some of them are in the device software and some of them are in the tower-side.

These problems are having a big negative impact on both the Bionic and the Razr. They show up as just the loss of the ability to send/receive data. There have been two nation-side outages and a bunch of shorter ones as towers are worked on.

One software upgrade has come out for the Bionic and another is apparently in "soak test" now. The first one for the Razr has not yet been released.

This is a tough time for Verizon 4G.

Waiting might be something you should consider.

The big thing that attracted me to the RAZR is the hype I think. I got my Bionic today and I love it. Very fast and smooth. I clocked the 4g with 2 bars at 16mbps down and 5 up. I love the form factor. Very similar to my DX but a little smoother and nicer. For $80 this thing is a steal. The only drawback is the pentile screen but I can live with it. It is the exact same size as the X which I like. The RAZR is a little too big.

the razr is a nice moto phone, i didnt realize how thin it really was til i saw it in person, and i was just astonished at the form factor for it.

i dont like the corners but the phone itself is pretty amazing
