Droid X owner/ 3g vs. 1x on DINC

Just wanted to know if the DINC has a problem holding on to a 3g signal.

I have a DX and it has been a good phone except that it spontaneously switches from 3g to 1x constantly, even in areas of good signal. I have buddies with DINCs and they don't have the same problem, but I wanted to get a broader perspective. It seems that my problem is common on all Moto droids.

Thanks

I've heard of this problem on various phones to a small degree. For the most part, the same or similar radio is used in all phones on the same network. They have a similar degree of fallibility. You're just as likely to fix your 3G/1x switching by getting another Droid X as you are by getting an Incredible.

Also, you could be in a location that has this issue. Technically, Verizon has deployed 3G to their entire footprint, but you'll still see 1x in areas where 3G is overburdened. Changing phones won't fix this.

The only time I see 1X is when I'm astounded to get any sort of connection at all. (like out in the middle of nowhere) I never lose my 3g when I have it. Are you sure you aren't on the fringe of coverage?

I have not had this problem...occasionally I lose 3g for a short time (a few minutes to a couple hours), but I'm almost certain those are tower issues.

I am pretty confident this is a hardware issue. I can have a -49dbm signal showing 1x and be sitting right next to a friend with a DINC or VZW Iphone and they will both have 3g.

You might try a battery pull reset. Power off the phone.. pull the battery for a few seconds and reinstall and power up. The phone is a little pc of sorts and needs a reboot now and then. This might solve your problem. One way or another it's an easy test.
