Help Droid X stuck in safe mode & soft menu key will not work

I've gone through previous threads and can't find anything that will work. Last week a friend dropped my DroidX into a puddle briefly. I took the
battery out and made sure everything was dry. It seemed like the case collected most of the water and it was only a second. The phone acted wacky at first.....unable to answer or unable to hear caller. Like I said....turned off and took out battery. Everything seemed to operate normally after I did that. About an hour later it went into safe mode and the soft menu key will not work. I have tried most of the methods suggested in the forum. Any ideas? Other than that, the phone works fine. Thanks.

how long did you let it dry out? if you just wiped off the water that you could get to, it might be too late. water will get into all sorts of places you can't reach on a phone. the best way to handle a dunked phone is to pull the battery out imidiately!, then place the all the pieces of the phone (phone, battery, covers, etc) into a bagie of rice. and let it set for minimum 3 days. after that, cross your fingers and try it.
