Help Droid X turns itself on at night

DrJim

Newbie
I turn my Droid X off (power off) at night to save the battery and because the manual says rebooting helps the phone run faster. My problem is that sometimes the phone turns itself on at night, including the screen! This tends to wake me and my wife up. Any idea why it does that?

There is also a flashing green LED in the upper left corner. Does anyone know what that light means?

I noticed, in a different thread, that a lot of people leave their phones on overnight because it runs the battery down to turn it off?? Is this true? If so, does anyone know why? Logically it should be just the opposite.

Thanks,

Jim

Do you plug the phone in to charge it at night? If so, the phone will always turn back on. If the brightness of the screen is causing issues, I would suggest just putting the phone screen down. The green LED can mean any number of things, do you have any notifications you haven't read?
As far as "people leave their phones on overnight because it runs the battery down to turn it off", I'm not quite sure what you are asking. . . I would recommend just charging your phone at night. The occassional reboot is probably good for the phone, but your battery isn't being saved at all by letting it run down. There are several threads on the "proper" way to charge/maintain a battery, and the general consensus is to simply charge it every night (or more frequently if you're draining the battery with heavy usage during the day).

Do you have a scheduled backup at night, like Titanium?

O/w when does your Backup Assistant backup?

You might want to reschedule all these to happen during the day.

After having done all the research on the web I could do, and not finding a solution I ended up going to the verizon store. They did a reactivation of my phone and the problem has completely gone away. With verizon all you have to do is dial *228.

I am having the same problem. When my battery gets low and I try to turn it off, it always turns itself back on. It's because of the sleep mode. Ever since the latest Motorola upgrade, I have been unable to make any changes to the sleep mode, so once your battery gets to about 5%, you won't be able to shut off your phone whether you want to or not! You can thank Motorola and these horrible Droids for that!

Oh, and the green flashing light is to indicate things like a text, email, missed call, etc.

Ok, I have the same issue where occasionally (no pattern, but typically less than once a month) my HTC Desire will turn itself back on (mostly immediately after turning off, but sometimes mins or hours later).

Here's the interesting bit...

My wife has an HTC Wildfire and it does the same, on the same day as my phone. I.e. when I turn mine off and it turns back on, I know that hers will do the same when she turns hers off.

We are on different carriers but the same phone maker.

I turned off automatic phone software updating, but the same thing still occurs. I suspect the culprit is either HTC pushing an update or, more likely, an app that causes this behaviour after updating itself.
