Droid X2 piece of junk

Newbie
i have had nothing but trouble with my piece of sh!t DX2. Some of the many issues I have had are..phone shutting off by itself, battery charging issues, freeze ups, while streaming music (iheartradio, pandora, slacker etc) constantly stops, 3G signal is lost and goes to 1X, that is some of the crap i had to deal with from day one with this piece of sh!t. I am on my fourth phone too!

My recommendation is the following:

INSTALL THE 2.3.4 SBF UPDATE ASAP!

Or, sit tight and hang in there a few days longer and grab the official OTA update. It is a HUGE improvement!!

3 days ago I was checking prices online to try and snag a used Droid 3 or Charge. I was seriously ready to throw it against the wall. But today I actually cautiously recommended the X2 to a guy at work. The new update makes all the difference!

I was having every problem you describe (and more). Seriously, all of those problems are either completely or 90% resolved by the new update. I still get an occasional 3G drop but it's definitely better than it was before. The camera is also tremendously improved as is the overall reception and signal strength.

Wow. Sorry you're having so many bugs. Once again we're seeing what must amount to poor quality control at the point of manufacture and inspection, because many X2 users see little or nothing of what you're reporting, while some other reports we've seen do sound very similar to yours.

I can't make any of those listed bugs happen, not even the ones shown on the coming OTA pdf. So, again, good phones in one batch, junky ones in another? Guess so.

As our man hkklife tells us though, the coming OTA addresses things well. We'll see about that as it rolls out and reports come along. ;)

You must be having bad luck.

I Just got my droid x2 yesterday. None of these problems. Ran it pretty hard yesterday that I killed the battery twice. Charged it overnight and took it off the charger at 7 am today. Wtih moderate use in the past 3 hours battery is at 80%. No freeze ups or battery charging issue.

The only problem I had is Pandora and it's not an X2 problem. I'm convinced it is a Pandora glitch with the latest version from the market. I downloaded an older version of Pandora and the problem went away. Look for Pandora v1.5.7 ad free. No problems running slacker either.

Currently the phone has android version 2.3.3

Does not seem to be an issue of luck, but symptoms of the DX2 having poor memory and heat management.

I had similar issues and returned it. Droid 3 has none of those issues and the one main issue it had was fixed (the smurf color when using the flash).

Motorola needs to move the DX2 firmware team to a remote island, far away from technology.

Well, I concur on the previously lousy state of the X2 but they have FINALLY got it to where it should have been at launch with the 2.3.4 update. It's a fairly fast, stable, responsive device. It could still be better but it's definitely made a huge leap forward with this latest release. That said, if I could trade in my X2 and its accessories for a D3 and a similar batch of accessories, I would do it in a heartbeat.

And the X hasn't been AS bad as the X2 but it has had lingering bugs that have remained through 3 or 4 consecutive updates at this point.

I'm seeing the "heat issue" discussed in forums all around. Apparently the OTA does not touch it quite enough, causing some users to just throw their hands in the air and go for another device (many the D3).

This makes me wonder if the official OTA will address it directly.

As for me, my two week old X2 most certainly does get good and warm as I use it.. just on the threshold of "hot," or "uncomfortable." But still not a deal breaker for me (I got rid of my D3 because I found myself never using the slide out, good as it was just no need for it coming off a Fascinate).

I have zero of the other mentioned issues about the X2: no reboots at all, no screen freezes, no lag at all (very fast and snaps from one screen or app to another without delay).

I found the leaked 2.3.4, but did not install it, wondering if the official might address the heat indirectly with better CPU functionality, etc.

Mine is fine , too. After a few weeks of getting the feel of it, I threw on the Eclipse ROM. I like this 8.1, and will probably be trying out everything I can get my hands on. The only issues I ever had anywhere were sound skips and Facebook photo syncing. I like this phone a lot, myself.

I am 99.999% certain that the "leaked" 2.3.4 IS the official 2.3.4 :-) I can definitely say that my X2 is cooler to the touc. As an added bonus, my reception in fringe areas has improved a tad and the battery now appears to be lasting LONGER than it was on 2.3.3 with basically the exact same usage patterns. If they could just make the camera app a wee bit more reliable I'd be thrilled. As it is, this update is a substantial improvement over 2.3.3

Mine is running/working well enough I almost hate to update it as it could actually be a downgrade for me. The only time I notice any heat issues is during long usage of the navigation app especially while playing music at the same time. Camera with the camera360 app takes excellent pictures, although the shutter speed is slow and low-light pics could be better. But overall I really cant complain terribly. It would be nice to be able to overclock and undervoltlike I did with my DX so I could increase battery life, but as is I'm usually not far from a charger anyway.

i hope 2.3.4 will fix a lot of the problems on my phone also, it's been frustrating owning this thing. my htc incredible was perfect with no random lock-ups, streaming music issues or freezing while charging.

Just sit back and wait for the OTA for you all with problems. I had reboots, charging problems, music skipping and Bluetooth issues.Never any heat issues ???? With the update my problems are gone. You will be surprised :D The Droid X2 is BACK. !!!!!!!!!

Well, I wouldn't say the X2 is "back" because it was never truly "here" to begin with! But yeah, the X2 has definitely finally arrived courtesy of 2.3.4!

I have been using it HARD since installing the leaked SBF last week and the only major complaints I have at all are still camera-related ones. The camera is much, much better than it was before but I still get maybe 10-20% of the time a shot or two where the flash doesn't seem in sync with the shutter.

Also, I'll still get a lockup occasionally when recording a video (most likely when in 720p) but still less frequently than it was before. I am hoping switching to a Class 4 32GB card (have a class 2 Sandisk now) might alleviate some of the issues.

Otherwise, I've had one random reboot while web browsing and it has otherwise been absolutely rock-solid with 2.3.4. The phone also runs cooler than it did before. Reception is consistently better in every location I visit, as are 3G download speeds. I still get some keyboard lag when typing with vibration on but it no longer locks up or gets stuck in keyboard exposed mode. Finally, my battery runtime during use is about the same but my standby battery life has improved by a fair amount. Overall I still give this update a 9/10 or so.

Before my phone updated to 2.3.4, it used to burn a hole in my pocket, and when the phone was hot like that, the battery was going down fast. Since the update, my phone does not get hot anymore. Also, the free version of JuiceDefender does a great job of increasing battery life. I did not change any of the settings on JuiceDefender, just downloaded it and let it run.
