Help Droid X2 screen shut off problem

hey guys i bought my droid x about a month ago and today it started to act weird. when i hit the sleep button the content on my phone kind of comes together in the middle and fades out. kind of like turning of an old television if you know what i mean. its kinda scaring me and im worried i need help! thanks!
 
There is nothing wrong with your phone. It was part of the OTA update that is screen animations. If you don't want to see it do that, then you have to turn off animations in your settings.
 
i feel like such a noob im sorry for wasting your time! i spilt water on it so i thought that might have been the problem, is there any rooting methods i can now do on 2.3.4?
 
Like the guy above me said, it is from the update. It is just a fancy animation they threw in there for "g"its & "sh"iggles. It is imitating the old tube TV's. They would turn on and off like that.
